Since then, he has recorded as a sideman with Jack DeJohnette, Eddie Gomez, Phil Woods, Harvie Swartz, and the Brecker Brothers, among others. But it is his own recordings for Mainstream, Music Masters, CTI, and especially his pair of essential Chiaroscuro albums in (the single CD Merge reissued all of the music except one song) that allow Missing: Opal.

Oct 14,  · A superior, slightly underrated improviser, Jack Wilkins has proven on his infrequent recordings as a leader that he ranks near the top. Wilkins, who studied with John Mehegan early on, learned vibes, piano, and classical guitar, but has stuck to jazz guitar throughout his fenrikkargturn.xyzinfog: Opal.

Well ‘Captain Blued’ was the first Jack Wilkins’ release that I ever purchased back in the days of vinyl. I had been looking for a CD copy to replace my old vinyl, on and off for some time now, even burned my vinyl to a CD-R at one point giving up that it would ever see the light of day on CD.1/5(1).
